‘I just did what I love… and then magical things started to happen’: Precocious British schoolgirl, 7, reveals how she wowed the internet with amazing Taylor Swift impression on TV in Philippines

Xiamara Vigor

A British seven-year-old who has become a worldwide star after an extraordinary TV impersonation of Taylor Swift in the Philippines told fans today: ‘I just did what I love to do and magical things started to happen’.

Xiamara Vigor sent the audience wild with excitement as her clothes were torn off during her pitch-perfect version of Swift’s 2008 hit You Belong With Me.

Dressed in a white marching band uniform matching Swift’s and wearing full make up, the seven-year-old appeared on the country’s hit show ‘Your Face Sounds Familiar: Kids’.

Half-way through the two-minute routine, viewed more than a million times on YouTube, she has her uniform ripped away to reveal a black dress before untying her blonde wig and tossing it around. Adult fans in the audience are seen screaming in delight while clutching banners emblazoned with ‘Xia’.

Xia also stars as a princess in a hit family sitcom and moved from Devon to Asia as a toddler with her British father Alan and Filipino mother Christy, who met online and married 11 years ago.

Mr Vigor told MailOnline today: ‘I am incredibly proud. She performs amazingly and she’s become a really big star on TV here in the Philippines’.

His daughter has developed a cult following in the Philippines after winning the 300,000 Pesos (£5,000) first prize after winning a ‘Mini Me’ talent show for her version of Selena Gomez’s ‘Love You Like A Love Song.’

After her performance wowed the internet she said on her official Instagram account: ‘I just did what I love to do and magical things started to happen’.

Last year the seven-year-old became a national celebrity after being cast as Princess Chavez in a hit Filipino TV show called Langit Lupa.

Xia has official Twitter and Facebook pages as well as dozens of fan pages packed with photos of the schoolgirl. Her Instagram account has 120,000 followers.

Your Face Sounds Familiar: Kids is a weekly show on the ABS-CBN channel – the main broadcaster in Phillippines and hosted by Billy Crawford, a Filipino-American singer, actor and TV host.

It has proved a massive hit in the Philippines with millions watching every week and looks set to be broadcast abroad including in America.

After securing her TV series role Xia also appeared on prime time Filipino TV to teach presenters how to speak English words with a British accent.

Xia is the daughter of British construction worker Alan Vigor and mother Christy, who is Filipino.

He met Christy online and the couple married about 11 years ago in the Phillipines. As well as Xiamara they have a nine year old son called Liam.

Dad Alan who is separated from Xia’s mum Christy but remains on good terms with her told Mail Online: ‘I’m not sure where her ability comes from. I used to play guitar and sing with her when she was young but her mother comes from a very musical family as well and we were always singing to our kids.’

‘The other day she said to me “Dad – I’m going to sing a song in Spanish on the show next week because I know you love it”. I taught her a little bit of Spanish – I lived in the Canary Islands for 15 years – and I asked her “Are you going to sing all the song in Spanish” and she said “yes”.

Mr Vogor said last year: ‘Xia has an incredible perspective on life, is extremely wise and, despite her young age, she can hold her own and speaks tagalog [Philippines language] fluently.

‘She makes up stories on the spot on live TV and is not intimidated by anybody. We are very proud of her achievements at such a young age.

‘[Philippines TV network] ABS BCN producers have said that she is set to become a big star in the Philippines. I’m the proudest dad of all.’

Her performance has, however, left some feeling uncomfortable with former Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan raising concerns about the ‘sexualisation of a young girl’.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain he said: ‘I don’t like it. A lot of people agree with me. This is the sexualisation of a young girl. I feel really uncomfortable watching that.

‘It shouldn’t be what a seven-year-old should be doing. I’ve got a five-year-old daughter, if she did that in two years’ time I would be really uncomfortable.

“We had a lot of girls come on Britain’s Got Talent and we all felt really uncomfortable.”

He added: ‘I don’t like it. I don’t think it’s right. Nothing against this girl’.

Her British family are from Devon and are extremely proud of her achievements.

Today Xiamara’s grandmother Patricia Vigor, speaking at the family home in Exmouth, Devon, said she was still astounded by her granddaughter’s success.

She said: ‘She’s always been a confident little girl ever since she was about three years old.

High profile: Xia stars in two talent shows and also a TV series so is used to attention despite her tender years

‘I remember when she was little she recited a poem to me and it went on and on and on but she had learnt it off by heart.

‘She did it with such expression and feeling it was very moving.

‘Her mother Christy’s home is in a very remote part of the Phillipines so for the last nine months she has been put up in a hotel with Xiamara near to the TV studios.

‘She has been on adult chat shows over there and even corrected the hosts on their English because hers is obviously so good.

‘Xiamara is on two talent shows which involve her doing a different song or performance each week. She is clearly a very talented little actress.’

Her father Alan is a qualified civil engineer who has developed an extensive property portfolio in Exmouth.

Speaking about their granddaughter’s fame Raymond said last year: ‘She is doing very well, and I can understand why, because she is a talented young lady. We are very proud of what she has achieved.’

The clip has been viewed nearly one million times on YouTube where enthusiastic viewers praised the little star.

Amber Munir said: ‘Oh my God – this is so adorable!’ Afiq Ryan added: ‘She slayed that performance.’

American blogger Perez Hilton even retweeted the clip and wrote: ‘This little girl doing Taylor Swift is everything I needed right now!! The ending, though!!’

In the show other children performed as Lady Gaga, Adam Levine and Alicia Keys.

This is not Xia’s first TV success.

In 2015, she won the Philippines’ Mini Me child talent competition for her rendition of Selena Gomez’s ‘Love You Like A Love Song.’

Xia donned a long brunette wig and pranced around stage with a pink bat, much like Gomez did in her music video, which has been watched on YouTube more than 300 million times.
